Cape Peninsula University of Technology and the School of Health: Collaboration within ERASMUS International Credit Mobility

One of the Porto Polytechnic Institute’s International Credit Mobility projects is now ending. In the past weeks, we are ending on a high note. The School of Health took part, visited, and welcomed the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

Our Pedagogical Council President, Professor Mónica Vieira, as well as Professor Sílvia Fernandes, visited Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) in South Africa. The primary purposes of this visit consisted of strengthening contact with teachers and staff in order to increase cooperation within under and postgraduate study cycles. Moreover, it was aimed to improve the ability to develop Master and PhD thesis in collaboration.

It was a unique intercultural experience that allowed for sharing professional and cultural backgrounds.

In the sequence of this visit, the work proceeded in Portugal, with the arrival of four members of CPUT to our School of Health (ESS). Throughout this week we were pleased to welcome Professors Nicole Brooks, Yanda Peter, Lizel Hudson and Lloyd Christopher. To this delegation, we were also delighted to join Professor Ema Nurmaya from Indonesia - Ahmad Dahlan University.

During this week, we fostered the right opportunities at ESS | P.PORTO to further enhance networking in several areas of expertise such as Biomedical Lab Sciences, Medicinal Biotechnology, among others.

The International Credit Mobility program has been a focal point in speeding up the fruitful cooperation that already started in 2022 between both institutions. Beyond ESS | P.PORTO, and its’ Research Centres, the work program also included a visit to the Central Services of Porto Polytechnic, as well as to the Engineering Institute (ISEP). We express our gratitude to all those involved in this busy last week for all the collaboration, availability and warm welcome.

We are ready and enthusiastic for the following ICM projects in a future that draws near.
