According to Regulation (EC) nº 1223/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 30 November 2009, on cosmetic products, "Cosmetic Product" can be defined as "any substance or mixture intended to be put in contact with the parts external parts of the human body (epidermis, hair and capillary systems, nails, lips and external genital organs) or with the teeth and oral mucous membranes, with a view, exclusively or mainly, to cleaning them, perfuming them, modifying their appearance , protect them, keep them in good condition or correct body odors". Bearing in mind that the area of dermopharmacy and cosmetics is an area in constant updating and the extremely important role that the Pharmacy Professional can have in its development, manipulation and advice, it becomes imperative to deepen and update knowledge, also having , focus on technological innovations in the sector.
Thus, the Postgraduate Course in Dermopharmacy and Cosmetics has the following objectives:
- Deepen and update knowledge about the regulations in force in the field of dermocosmetics; - Recognize the importance of marketing in the field of dermopharmacy and cosmetics;
- Deepen and update knowledge about galenic development in the field of cosmetology, taking into account the regulations in force and Good Manufacturing Practices;
- Increase competence in the area of advice on dermocosmetic products, enabling a better and more correct selection of product(s) and the most appropriate advice(s) for each situation;
- Updating knowledge about technological innovations in the field of dermocosmetics, both in terms of formulation and advice.
The Postgraduate Course in Dermopharmacy and Cosmetics can be achieved after completing different Curricular Units, corresponding to different credit units, which aim to obtain specific skills in the area of dermopharmacy and cosmetics.
The Pedagogical Plan is developed in theoretical-practical and practical theoretical classes.

The following can apply for access to the cycle of studies: a) Students or graduates in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences or legal equivalent, whose curriculum demonstrates adequate basic scientific preparation; b) Holders of an academic, scientific and/or professional curriculum relevant to the course in question.
