The aim of this 2nd cycle in Biochemistry in Health is to develop skills in the field of Advanced Biochemistry for health professionals, or other professionals in related areas, in order to enhance their professional and academic enrichment. According to the present proposal, this course could be directed to the areas of diagnosis and therapy that are the competence of professionals trained at the level of the 1st cycle in Health Technology courses. The Master's course in Biochemistry in Health, being a current course, has a strong component, and differentiating it from other similar courses, in the area of systems biology and omics (Genomics, Proteomics and Metabolomics, Cytomics, Pharmacogenomics and Bioinformatics) . In addition, the Biochemistry in Health course has a strong clinical component that also differentiates it from other similar master's degrees, namely Molecular Pathology, Clinical Pathology, Immunohistochemistry, Clinical Biochemistry, Molecular Diagnosis, among others.

The course also presents a route in the field of Biotechnology, directed towards environmental, food and pharmaceutical biotechnology, with a bioinformatics, chemical and microbiological component for biotechnology. Another differentiating feature of this master's degree is the possibility for students to define their academic path, through the specialization in applied biochemistry, since they can choose all subjects in the 3rd quarter of the branches in operation.
