The Master's in Physiotherapy was designed and planned in accordance with the principles proclaimed in the Bologna declaration, extracting the concepts of student-centered learning and the European Credit Transfer System to evaluate the effort made by the student in this learning process. It is based on in-depth knowledge of important areas of Physiotherapy, and other areas of knowledge that support its practice, such as functional sciences, morphological sciences, biomechanics, psychology, biostatistics and pharmacy. In its structure, the course will have two curricular units in the 1st year common to the different areas of specialization of this cycle of studies. At the end of these, students will be distributed across different areas of specialization. The 2nd year will consist of the Research and Dissertation | Internship units with final report. It is important to note that the Master's degree in Physiotherapy is awarded in the corresponding area of specialization.

  • Master Physiotherapists will master the assessment skills that allow the adaptation and creation of new safe and efficient methods/techniques
  • they will use the information collected to develop a specific and efficient intervention plan, centered on the user|client, using problem-solving and clinical reasoning skills
  • will critically analyze therapeutic interventions
  • will develop methodologies and make relevant judgments on data management systems and user/client records in the corresponding areas of specialization of this Master's Degree.

Holders of the Bietapic Degree, Degree in Physiotherapy, or legal equivalent; Holders of a foreign higher academic degree, in the areas of health or related areas, awarded following a 1st cycle of studies organized in accordance with the Bologna principles by a State adhering to this Process; Holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognized as meeting the objectives of the degree in Physiotherapy by the Technical-Scientific Council of the Escola Superior de Saúde (ESS); Holders of an academic, scientific and professional curriculum, which is recognized as attesting the ability to carry out this cycle of studies by the ESS Technical-Scientific Council.
